Still Need A CD Player
Author: Christiana Still Need A CD Player
Now that MP3 players such as the IPod are very popular, many are walking away from the CD player as a way to play music. However, don't throw yours out too quickly, as you may find that you still want to have one even when you have the newer technology. There are still times when CDs are more practical, and they are still very much in use in our current times. Not only that, they are a cheaper alternative when you have a lot of kids and don't want to spend a ton of money on IPods.
The CD player blew the cassette players of a decade or so ago out of the water. The two biggest reasons for this were because you could skip right to the song you wanted, and because CDs lasted much longer and were stronger than the tape that came in cassettes. Though it took a while, people started buying new CDs to replace their old tapes so that they could still listen to their favorite bands on the new technology of the CD players. These players for the CD were expensive at first, but the price did come down rather rapidly so that everyone could afford one.
Today, you can use the MP3 in your car, but for some, the CD player is still the way that they enjoy music when they are on the road. These players for CDs generally come standard in many makes and models of car today, just as the cassette was standard for a long time before that. You can't listen to your MP3 with headphones in the car, and that means buying a special attachment to get the music through your current player. That is why some still stick with the CD for listening on the road. For now, that makes a lot of sense anyway, at least financially.
The best thing about getting a CD player today is that you can find them at a very good price. The player that may have cost you thirty dollars about ten years ago can be found for five or ten dollars today. Though they are not the best for jogging, you can find those that protect against skipping at a reasonable price as well. When you have a huge selection of CDs, it might make sense to keep your CD player, even when you a new MP3 in your home. There is not harm to have both, as one will always be better in different situations.
